I flashed the Router that i have Linksys wrt54g and it works great fpr PPTP. Where do you see the connection on the admin gui for the users that have connected using the VPN PPTP connection. I looked at all the screens and did not see the 192.168.1.150 address that i setup for the router to issue for the PPTP VPN users.
Oct 20, 2009 · Everything works great, except VPN passthrough. Here's what happens: The VPN software will authenticate, and keep the connection, but no data is received. It's odd. Also, if I fire up the wireless adapter on hte laptop, it connects directly to my main router(WRT54GL v1.1 running Tomato) and the VPN works fine that way. Things I've tried: 1. L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) is a VPN (Virtual Private Network) protocol for carrying data from one device to another securely over the internet. 6. Has WPA2-PSK
If it doesnt work, make sure VPN passthrough is enabled in WRT54G (this model supports passthrough but might be disabled). Using a cable and connecting laptop directly to cablemodem and trying VPN connection will also eliminate possible Linksys oriented issues.
The next step will be to load dd-wrt software onto the linksys router, which I am hopping will stop the occasional loss of wan connection (about 1 minute drop). I tested a netgear wrnd4300 router (had to clone MAC to make the switch between the routers quickly) with latest dd-wrt build and it worked reliably. I prefer the linksys router.
